Q4 performance shows clear pressure on per unit profitability, with Total Gross PVR declining to $1,871.60 driven primarily by a sharp reduction in Sales PVR. While backend performance softened slightly, F&I remained relatively stable compared to front end results, helping offset some of the overall decline. Margin compression is evident as Total Profit Margin fell to 16.1 percent, reinforcing the impact of both pricing pressure and changing sales dynamics.
Operational metrics reveal additional challenges. Products per deal continued to decline to 0.71, indicating lower attachment rates at delivery. Unit volume remained inconsistent across quarters, with no sustained upward trend, increasing reliance on per deal profitability rather than volume growth. Despite this, product sales now account for over 80 percent of total F&I profit, highlighting increased dependence on backend performance. It is worth noting that unit count shows an increase of 25 units per month compared to 2024 Q4.
From a product and brand perspective, VSC and PPM continue to deliver the strongest profit per unit, while several add on products remain underpenetrated despite solid financing activity. Brand margin performance shows that value-oriented manufacturers such as CFMoto and Suzuki outperform several premium brands in gross margin efficiency, demonstrating that profitability is being driven more by margin discipline than by average selling price.
Overall, Q4 results suggest that improving product attachment, strengthening front end execution, and protecting margins will be critical priorities moving into the next quarter.
